Raytheon ARMED: Aviation Maintenance Mentor/Trainer (SMW HQ) in Afghanistan

The Special Mission Wing (SMW) G4 Aviation Maintenance Mentor shall implement and operate programs, practices, and procedures for developing optimal utilization of combat support, and combat service support personnel to ensure proper maintenance of all aircraft assigned to the Special Mission Wing. Trainer will assist SMW with administering programs to train personnel on maintenance of assigned aircraft. When necessary coordinate class arrangements, conduct training classes, develop criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training and maintenance activities, and develop train the trainer classes for the SMW Staff and maintenance personnel. Develop programs and practices to identify developmental needs including preparing personnel for more responsible positions and increasing effectiveness in present assignments. If required, may use technical experts to assist in training. Required Hours: Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to ten (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites. Responsibilities: Train the SMW G4 Aviation Maintenance Mentor shall advise the SMW SOAG Commander and shall directly Train, Advise, Assist and Mentor (TAAM) the SMW Aviation Maintenance Officer while also assisting the subordinate SMW Commanders and their staffs. Shall work under the Supervision of the Special Operations Advisory Group J4, or designated representative, and while conducting TAAM of the SMW Aviation Maintenance Manager on SMW Rotary and fixed wing aircraft. Principal duties include: Assist the Aviation Maintenance Operations in support of Offensive, Defensive and Garrison Operations and Aviation maintenance procedures in accordance with applicable technical manuals, all applicable Afghan decrees and operating procedures. Assist the development of Aviation safety programs, development of maintenance programs and the scheduling of preventative maintenance and services. Provide technical assistance to ensure equipment is repaired in accordance with standards using the proper placement and employment of Aviation maintenance personnel and repair parts. Advise on planning and coordination of supported units, analysis and forecasting of Class IX requirements, and development of a combat readiness and sustainment program. Provide assistance on monitoring, management, and reporting of maintenance and recovery operations, and on coordination for maintenance and recovery operations. Provide advice on the development and analysis of aviation maintenance equipment readiness reports, on the completion and processing of aviation maintenance required forms and documents, and on the development of the logistics annex for operations plans, operations orders, and SOPs. Provide logistics focused presentations, assessments, reports and other products as required to U.S. military leadership in support of the Afghan Special Security Forces (ASSF) sustainment missions. Complete training in Core Inventory Management System Enterprise Edition (CORE IMS-EE). Review and provide input into MoD Decrees as processes, procedures, and the operational environment evolves. Perform other qualified duties as assigned by the Special Operations Advisory Group. Provide written reports that are clear, concise, and meaningful for all aviation maintenance matters. Required Qualifications: Must have a background in US military aviation maintenance management with 6-10 years minimum experience in logistical operations at the battalion/squadron level or higher. Must have had an occupational specialty equal to US Army 151 or service equivalent and served in the grade of CW3 or higher. Must have experience and general knowledge of aviation related technical data, industry practices, techniques and standards. Competent with operating Personal Computer (PC) Skills & Microsoft Office Excellent Leadership, Organizational & Project Mgmt Skills Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. DoD Security Clearance as of day one of employment Must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility Must be able to obtain an Afghanistan Visa Physical & Mental Requirements: This is an ARMED position. Must obtain and maintain eligibility to possess & operate a firearm in Afghanistan (AFG). A minimum experience of 12 months working in Afghanistan, in any military capacity preferred. Security Clearance Requirement: Must have a SECRET security clearance. Clearance is required to access and handle classified and personal personnel material, attend project meetings, and/or work within restricted areas unescorted. Required Education: Bachelor's degree from accredited school & six (6) years of related experience, OR four (4) years related experience with Master's degree.
