General Dynamics Information Technology Training & Exercise Planner in Ft Sam Houston, Texas
The Mission Training Complex’s Training and Exercise Planner serves as a member of the Mission Training Complex (MTC) Team supporting Joint Base San Antonio at Ft Sam Houston, TX. The mission of the MTC is to provide simulation and models training, subject matter expertise, over-the-shoulder training, production of exercise/event materials to include after action reviews (AAR) and lessons learned, providing exercise/event analysis in support of simulation enhanced training/tactical gaming during testing and unit exercises. Because the JBSA MTC has a diverse customer training base (AMEDDC&S, AC & RC units, ARNORTH, ARSOUTH, etc) with unique requirements and missions the key to the MTC staff’s success is the ability to respond to unknown or changing requirements, missions sets (DSCA, Theater Cooperation Support (TSC), tactical medical training) and role playing expertise. The MTC is a training enabler in this process that provides simulation and/or Mission Command System (MCS) stimulation to drive the training.Specifically, the Training and Exercise Planner functions as the MTC’s primary POC for all coordination, planning and development of all levels of Collective Training: Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming. Plans, develops, and executes Mission Training Complex (MTC) internal, simulation and stimulation-driven events. Is the MTC Point of Contact for Exercise Planning; Exercise operational control of Plans and Operations. Attends and documents planning conference and meeting issues pertaining to MTC support to training. Monitors/tracks all activities in support of Collective Training to include: Live, Virtual, Constructive, and Gaming. Monitors/tracks the efforts in the coordination, planning and development of all levels of Collective Training. Synchronizes efforts among MTC personnel with regard to exercise and training events. Serves as a training coordinator and consultant to customer units.Meets regularly with, and assists customer unit Commanders and G3/S3s in determining and/or developing collective training requirements based on unit training objectives within the scope of the MTC Training Program. Plans, designs, and coordinates the use of developed training materials. Along with the assistance of supporting battle staff training integrators (BSTI), prepares, integrates and synchronizes associated training support package products including OPORD/FRAGO and major event task list (MSEL) products and injects.Provides command post staff workshop and mission command training, as directed. Conducts battle command system interoperability and employment training. During exercises employee may serve as a simulation system coach/mentor to role players or perform duties as a role player as directed by the Task Lead.
Bachelors Degree in a related technical or military discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work/military experience.
Experience: Requires 5 years directly related training experience. Candidate must have extensive experience in training Army units in command and staff constructive environments (CPX) at Battalion and Brigade level. Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years relevant experience in a leadership position in military units, with duties commensurate to those defined in the job description, including. Knowledge includes an understanding of military tactics, current tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and force structure in order to effectively incorporate training units into the exercise. Understands the development and management of training in Live-Virtual-Constructive environments. Knowledge of current Army constructive simulation models is highly desired. Works in a highly intense information technology (IT) environment, and required to maximize the use of the mission command systems commonly used in Battalion through Division command posts. Additional experience with current versions of military training aids, devices, simulations and simulators (TADSS), mission specific digital systems/tools, and other available IT assets in the conduct of mission support is highly desirable.
Unique/Additional Requirements: Advanced knowledge of relevant hardware, software, and other equipment as assigned. Some of these qualifications/competencies may include use of current Battle Command Systems, military models and simulations. Microsoft Office Skills including PowerPoint, Word, Access and Excel. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
